Emerald Carpet Creeping Raspberry or Bramble

Rubus pentalobus ‘Emerald Carpet’

Tough spreading plant

Spreads 5 feet in 3 years

Thickly foliaged stems spread at a moderate rate to form a dense carpet 1 ft high. Rounded leaves with ruffled-edged lobes on straight stems are highly textural looking.

Unlike other brambles, stems and leaves are thornless and evergreen. 'Emerald Carpet' has superior foliage that turns raspberry red with the onset of cool autumn nights.

A ground hugging habit of robust stems cloaked with thick, rounded leaves. In summer, plants display single, five-petaled white flowers which stand in stark contrast to the deep green, heavy textured foliage.

Orange raspberry-like fruit are produced in late summer and are cherished by scavenging wildlife.

Optimum growth occurs in full sun or bright shade in average garden soils.
