SIX NEW TREES AT GALER
No, this isn’t the work of a graffiti artist. It is code, though. These are the professional markings used to indicate the location of telecommunication, alarm or signal lines, cables or conduit. The SDOT crew used these utility markings as guidance in placing the six new trees they planted at Galer on Wednesday, March 22nd.
Replacing the no-longer-healthy maples are Parrotia persica ‘Vanessa’ or Persian Ironwood trees.
We know they look so little and twiggy now. They will be beautiful once they become established and go through a few growing seasons.
Below is a link where you can learn more about them. Then you can imagine what the Galer gardens area could look like as these trees grow: https://www.gardenia.net/plant/Parrotia-persica-Vanessa-Persian-Ironwood
The gardens definitely look very bare at the moment. That's because we dug out plants to make room for the removal of the not-so-healthy maples trees and the planting of the Persian Ironwood. Another garden party will be underway soon and the plants will be back in their home.
